Founded in 1785, Champagne Heidsieck & Co Monopole is now one of the oldest champagne houses in the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was particularly valued by the European royal families and the Russian tsarist family. In 1916, 3,000 bottles were sent to the Russian ruling family in St. Petersburg. The cargo, along with cognac and burgundy barrels, never arrived because it was sunk by a German submarine. It was not until July 1998 that 2,400 bottles of Heidsieck & Co Monopole from 1907 were salvaged. Today, the champagne house Heidsieck & Co Monopole is one of the most successful champagne brands in Europe
