The recipe for Carlsberg Pilsener has remained unchanged since the Carlsberg brewery was founded in 1847 by Jacob Christian Jacobsen in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. It is not for nothing that the bottom-fermented premium lager is one of the world’s best-known beer brands and can be found in bars on every continent. In the 1970s, the typical label with the green Carlsberg lettering and the stylized hop leaf was given the slogan “probably the best beer in the world”. As is usual for a hop drink brewed in the Pilsner style, Carlsberg Pilsener is more heavily hopped and therefore tastes more bitter than a full-bodied beer. The strong hop aroma is just right for lovers of intense flavors and goes perfectly with meat dishes, but also for building up electrolyte levels after sporting activities. Carlsberg Pilsener is not just suitable for drinking, but also for cooking. How about a pork roast in a delicious onion and beer sauce, for example? A beer-mustard marinade for juicy grilled steaks is also a good tip. If you want to reduce the intense hop flavor a little, but still don’t want to miss out on the spicy finish of the Carlsberg Pilsener, mix the aromatic hop drink with sparkling mineral water or various lemonade drinks. Even a dash of elderflower syrup or lingonberry syrup goes well with the taste of Danish beer.
